Nokia’s Lumia 928 looks like the answer to a smartphone shutterbug’s prayers. Nokia has confirmed that the Lumia 928 will sport an 8.7 -megapixel PureView camera with Carl Zeiss optics along with Nokia’s own Optical Image Stabilisation technology.

Nokia has also put up a webpage for the Lumia 928, which has an official image of the phone and a video of the phone camera in action. We’re shown a low light and OIS filming test where the guys at Nokia pit the Lumia’s camera against the Galaxy S3 and iPhone 5’s cameras, and it looks like the Lumia pretty much owns the other two phones when it comes to low light performance. The official image of the phone reveals a sleek, thin phone devoid of curves.

However, not much else has been revealed about the Lumia 928. Going by the rumours we’ve come across so far, the phone is expected to have a 4.5-inch screen with a resolution of 768 x 1280 pixels, a dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

There is almost no other information available about the phone right now, but we expect Nokia to unveil it at the May 14 event in London. Another phone called the Lumia 925 is also rumoured to be unveiled at the same event, but there is little information to lend any credence to the rumours.

We’ve also been hearing rumours about another Nokia phone called the Lumia EOS. This smartphone supposedly has a 41 megapixel camera, which makes it the Windows Phone version of the Nokia PureView 808. If this phone does exist, we expect it to have a better camera app and interface than the Symbian PureView 808, whose user interface left a lot to be desired. It’ll be interesting to see what Nokia comes up with if it indeed has a phone that combines Windows Phone 8 with a 41 megapixel camera.
