BSNL introduced Next Generation Network (NGN) in northeast region. It is a new technology which provides facilities similar to mobile phones.
NGN is an Internet Protocol (IP) based technology. The officials said that this new technology will give additional facilities to the landline. This technology aims at improved telecommunication.
The officials said that NGN technology will increase the customers of landline. All the features of existing system such as phone number, call rates etc will remain same except the time when we use additional features such as multimedia. NGN offers video calling, broadband services, and provides high voice quality. NGN will allow minimum of 30 people to interact with each other by video calling through session initiation protocol.
