Bharti Airtel on Wednesday announced a scheme to offer 5 GB additional data for its every post-paid broadband or DTH customers.  The promotional offer called ‘myHome Rewards’ can be utilized by Airtel broadband customers on their new and existing Airtel connections.

Bharti Airtel (India) CEO Homes, Hemanth Kumar Guruswamy said in a statement “At Airtel, it is our constant endeavor to delight our customers with great products and services. As a further step in this direction, we are very excited to launch myHome Rewards today. This is a gesture from us to thank our broadband customers for giving us an opportunity to serve them. Along with the unlimited free calling benefit on our landline, customers can now make the most of their Airtel broadband with the free additional data benefits”.

Under ‘myHome Rewards’ scheme, Airtel is rewarding all its broadband homes with 5 GB free additional data for every Airtel postpaid and/or digital TV (DTH) connection in their family. “The more connections you have the more free data you get,” the statement said. If an Airtel broadband home has two Airtel postpaid mobiles and one Airtel digital TV connection then 15 GB additional data will be added to their broadband account every month, it added.

Customers can visit the Airtel India website, or use the myAirtel app to register their connection and claim the myHome Rewards. But Airtel hasn’t mentioned anything regarding the validity period of this scheme. The new scheme can also be counted as an effect of Reliance Jio. Reliance Jio has been able to attract 15 lakh users on its network by offering free unlimited calling and 4G data for 90 days on trial basis.

This promotional offer can be considered as a continuation of Airtel’s efforts to impress its broadband customers with free data benefits under ‘Airtel Surprises’. Last year, Airtel had slashed the rates of broadband by up to 30 per cent for new broadband customers. Also earlier, Airtel had launched ‘myPlan Infinity’ for postpaid subscribers, which promises data benefits as well as unlimited local, STD and roaming voice calls.
