As the subscribers always complain about the poor broadband speed and slow downloads, the Centre might order a four-fold increase in the minimum speed of broadband. It means soon the subscribers can enjoy the transition of broadband speed from 512 kbps to 2 mbps.

IT minister Ravi Shankar Prasad mentioned that he will propose to take up the matter with the communications ministry and they will consider laying down a policy for increasing the minimum broadband speed from the current levels.

The reasons that have led to the favor for upgrading the minimum internet speed on wire and wireless networks is assumed to be the blooming start-up ecosystem across India and the delivery of a variety of consumer services through mobile phone apps.
