Previously, Apple requested the court to include Samsung’s Galaxy S3 Mini smartphone in its patent battle against the Korean smartphone maker saying that the handset infringes on its patents along with Galaxy S3 and a few other devices. In a recent development, Apple has agreed to drop the Galaxy S3 Mini from the list of devices allegedly infringing patents. In another instance, Samsung has loaded its patent arsenal and has already engaged SAMs on almost Apple’s entire product line up! But will the missiles actually fire Apple’s fortress?

As the patent battle gets heated after Samsung being humiliated for copying Apple’s innovation, the Korea-based company has dragged the latest iPad 4, the latest iPad mini and iPod into the patent battle field. Samsung previously, included the iPhone 5 too. Well, the tablet might interest Samsung but its still unclear as to why the iPod was dragged in.

US Magistrate Judge, Paul S. Grewal stated that he would allow the newly released Apple products to enter the long going patent dispute. Previously, Samsung had claimed that Apple’s latest iPhone 5 infringed eight of Samsung patents. Out of these eight, two are standards patents and six features patents. The South Korean tech giant has added the claim to its existing patent lawsuit against Apple at the US District Court of California.

Samsung has the third-highest number of LTE patents at 12.2 per cent followed by Qualcomm at 12.5 per cent. Nokia has the maximum number of LTE patents with 18.9 per cent. Before the launch of iPhone 5, Samsung had warned that if Apple’s iPhone 5 comes with 4G LTE support, then it would file a patent violation case against Apple.
