Are you ready for flexible smartphones? Reports about flexible displays have been doing rounds for quite some time now and it seems that the time is nearing when we would actually see smartphones with flexible screens. Do not believe us? Well, reports suggest that Samsung would be one of the first companies to launch the device and it should be coming sooner than you expect- 2013 to be precise.

Other companies who are working on flexible displays include Nokia, Sony, LG and Phillips. According to a BBC report, Samsung will most likely be the first electronics manufacturer to launch such a device. There is no word on whether we could be seeing flexible screen technology on the next Galaxy S or Galaxy Note smartphone, or whether Samsung will introduce a new line of Galaxy ‘Flexible’smartphones.

Samsung had spoken about its flexible display earlier. The company had made a statement that read: Our flexible displays will be “foldable, rollable, wearable and more, [and] will allow for a high degree of durability through their use of a plastic substrate that is thinner, lighter and more flexible than… conventional LCD technology.”

Let’s see when they actually hit the market, especially the Indian shores and at what price point. It could be the turning point of smartphone technology. Stay tuned for updates…
