Google is changing the way sign-ins work for Android games to make the process a little bit less annoying. They are taking steps to reduce sign-in friction and unnecessary permission requests for players by moving the Games APIs to a new model.

As part of the new model, Google Play Games will only require you to sign in once per account, as opposed to once per game, and new accounts will no longer require a Google+ account. Once players have signed in for the first time, they will no longer need to sign in to any future games.
