Whatsapp recently rolled out its most awaited feature of video calling to everyone in its latest update.
Posting a big challenge to all other video calling web applications including Skype, imo, Google duo, facebook messenger, this update to whatsapp has been added after a long careful beta test. The video calling option is available from the normal dialer from which you can select voice or video calling option. iphone users will have to wait for its iOS rollout while to sign up for WhatsApp beta on Windows Phone, you need join beta program . Once you are on the beta, you will get access to WhatsApp video calling on Windows Mobile.
Here’s how to make a video call within WhatsApp:
- Open WhatsApp
- Go to the Contacts tab
- Find and tap the contact you want to initiate a WhatsApp video call with
- Tap on the phone icon towards the top of the screen
- From the popup choose Video call
That’s it – you’ve just made your first WhatsApp video call!
On testing the new Whatsapp feature over 1Mbps wifi showed good result without much stutter. On a 3G connection also the Whatsapp video call showed satisfactory performance and clarity. On a 2G connection its quality of video drastically dropped and mostly the sound only was seen without the image.
The video display area looked perfect as it entirely cover the device dimension while a small box-shaped front camera is also overlaid on top of the primary screen. Above all it takes very less data for making a video call when compared to other video calling applications.
Considering the popularity of Whatsapp messenger around the world its obvious that this new feature would tempt users to discontinue all other conventional video calling applications and use Whatsapp only for their voice, video calls and texting.
